My first memory of playing with soldiers was when I was four years old and someone (most likely my father) had bought me a bag of those green plastic US Soldiers from the dollar store of the day.
50 soldiers of my own!
It must have triggered some deep odd passion in me, because now – a generous 5 decades later - I’m still playing with soldiers and enjoying them as much if not more than when I was four.
In that span of time I have ‘sunk your battleship’, conquered the world (and lost it) from one of seven Risk continents, Chess, D&D, Panzer-Blitz, Avalon Hill, SPI, DBA, Warhammer, Talon-soft, Flames of War, Bolt Action and hundreds of variations of mayhem and madness in-between.
Caleb, Gary and I meet 15 years ago and that meeting has turned into a great friendship between us. Eight years ago, sipping Corona, while sitting in a tree house Caleb had built for his daughters, we thought…
“Heck why not - let’s paint miniatures and see what happens!”
What happened exceeded our Corona fogged minds more than we could have imagined. J
Here we are today, CGRPainters Studio with a gang of 18 to 20 similar minded folks scattered all across the US, some painting full time… most painting part time… all of us doing what we love… painting miniatures!
So from me, a big huzzah of thanks to all the artist of the studio, their hard work got us to where we are today… and an even bigger THANKS to you, the reader, the client, the customer – the folks we paint miniatures for.
